Becoming a flight attendant?
I have becoming interested in a flight attendant career and i just wanted some information on how to start. I live in Montreal so it would have to be for Air Canada or Air transat. Hows the training, where is it? DO you have to be staitioned somewhere else before working in montreal perminantly? How is the pay and the hours. Just want an insight on people in the industry. Thanks Yes I do speak french and I also speak Italian. The italian should be a plus

- First off, do you speak French? Any other languages? French is required to work for Air Canada and your chances of being hired increase tremendously with language experience. I would definitely pick Air Canada out of the two. They have newer planes, fly to more destinations, and being a larger company, would probably have better insurance/benefits/salaries. Training for many American-based airlines usually takes place at one of the company's training headquarters. For Delta, these are located in both Atlanta and Salt Lake City. I would imagine that for Air Canada, the training would be in Toronto, Quebec, or Montreal. The airline will decide where to station you. Because Montreal is one of their hubs, it is quite likely that you will be stationed there. However, you could also be placed into one of their other hubs, such as Toronto. The pay for a new flight attendant is fairly low, roughly 30,000 per year. However, the benefits (such as free travel nearly anywhere in the world) are why most people decide to take the job. When you begin as a flight attendant, you will work "on-call," where the airline will call you at home when they need you and you will have to show up for work right away. As you work longer and longer, you will have much more flexibility over your schedule, as well as the routes you fly on. Hope all of this helps =)
