Flight Attendant Information

I would just like to know if anyone has any information on flight attendants and how to become one?

  1. Most carriers have an age/height/weight requirement. There will be a 10 year background check so be honest with your application. Training on average is between 4 to 6 weeks, however it could take longer with some carriers. Some may put you up in a hotel and others may not. Some will pay you during training, and others pay after training/graduation. Most will require one to pass all tests with at least an 80 to 90% score. After you graduate you will be certified by the FAA. You will need a passport and that can take up to 3 to 6 weeks to receive. Again, depending on the carrier, you may need to relocate to another city. You can be on reserve status for 5 years or better. If you can speak other languages that is beneficial to you. I'm away from home over half of the month at a time. My life, my personal relationships, doctor appointments, social outings, dating, etc, revolves around my schedule. You will work weekends, holidays, birthdays and anniversaries, and all hours of the day. You can work 14+ hours a day. Sometimes I am so busy I don't have time to eat so I bring along snacks. If you're wanting to get your feet wet and try it out, start with a regional carrier. If you like to cook and cater to people, try a corporate carrier such as Netjets. If you'd like further information, e-mail me at fainstl@yahoo.com. Hopes this helps and good luck.
  2. Try SkyWest Airlines. Regional carrier, great company to work for. Check out their website, they are hiring right now...you will have to fill out an online app, attend a group interview and possibly attend a second interview. If you get on with them, you can build seniority very quickly, especially if you are based in Denver or Chicago. In the airlines, seniority is everything so a regional allows you a better quality of life (although you will get paid a little less). I've been doing it for five years and I love it. Going to Spain, Italy and France for my 30th birthday! Good luck!
  3. Amazon offers several books regarding flight attendants. Check out this link... http://amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/105-6540088-9678036?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=flight+attendant&Go.x=6&Go.y=7
  4. Go the airline website such as United go to the employment section, then flight attendant, they have info of the requirements there.
