what do I need to do to become a flight attendant?
Ever since I was 9 I've wanted to be a flight attendant. I've heard you don't need to go to collage and that you can just take a 4 month- 2 yr. flight attendant training course. Is that true? And what other special things do I need to do for a international flight job ecepct for knowing another language?

- This site seems to have a pretty simple run-through of the position and what's required. Sounds like a minimum of 2 years of college would be preferred, as many of the applicants have this (ie so you'd be at a disadvantage without it) as well as some customer service experience. http://www.ehow.com/how_12360_become-flight-attendant.html
- Check the airline companies to know their requirements. Yes, you take a training course to know the basics. I'm not sure if airline companies here do not require college education. But for fall back, I suggest you should also consider going to college. Now for the other special things you need to do or know - you must know how to swim, meet a certain height requirement, you must be people and service oriented. Knowing another language may be a plus but I don't think it's a requirement. I was once an international flight attendant in another country but before flying international, we had to fly domestic first. I don't know if the same procedure applies here. Being a flight attendant is not an easy job but very exciting and rewarding. You get to travel to different countries for free - you get paid too :) . I can sense you really want to become one so follow your dreams. Start researching. Good luck.
- I don't know, maybe in US it's different but in the UK you don't need to finish any courses to become a FA. Airlines do their own courses and most prefer if you don't have any other information stuck in your head before you join them, they want to "mould" you up to their own standards. But it is a fantastic job - go for it!
