- Get a copy of the book Working in Aviation. Your school library should have this, or get it off Amazon. This is written by people working in the industry, with info about what airlines want from you, so what courses might be helpful, case studies, background info on people working in airlines, how to apply, what questions you might be asked at interview - including sneaky ones - etc. etc. Also lots of contact addresses. Good luck Verite R
- I have worked for two different airlines in the US. If you plan to work for an international carrier, being fluent in other languages is a plus. Most airlines want you to have experience in customer service and to present a poised and professional demeanor. They do not want to hear "I love people and everyone says I have a beautiful smile." They want to hear "I can think on my feet, I am a team player, I can handle stress, I am flexible with travel and being on call at odd hours, etc." Here is an excellent website to answer many of your questions: http://www.flightattendantcareer.com/ Good luck - it's a fun job if you approach it with the right attitude.
- I just answered a similar question here: http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aldj6KVErM3wD0vuL3jXcxnAFQx.;_ylv=3?qid=20091018132137AAa0xJW&show=7#profile-info-xVw1Iv5Paa Don't expect to fly for a "nice" airline, first because very few airlines are presently recruiting, and those who are (i.e. Etihad) will look for experienced FAs. At the beginning and unless you are really lucky, you will have to gain experience with a smaller regional airline (Hello Wichita....) or budget-carrier like Ryanair in Europe if you can obtain an EU work permit.
