Flight Attendant Information

Has anyone been in The Airline Academy in Florida?

I got a card from the airline academy and i sent it to get more info and like in 2 weeks a man called and said that he was going to come and interview me we set the date and he came to my house and we spent almost 2 hours talking about the job apportunities, benefits, and how the academy is paid and all that good stuff. then at the end he said that to sign up i had to pay about 500 dollars to go with the application. after a while talkin to my parents we finnaly agreed to pay and i had to wait maybe like 2 weeks until i got an acceptance letter from the academy and i have to pay around 6,000 dolllars and finish with all 12 book lessons before i can go to the academy. we pay 243.94 a month. when i get to the 7 lesson i have to call and reserve my spot at the academy. MY uncle made my mom all worried about what if this is all a scam because his never heard of any school that you have to pay before u go attend it. so what do u guys think ? is it a scam? and i know already its not necessary to attend a flight attendant school to become one i do get refunds but it depends how much time has passed by or how many lessons ive done i might not get all the money back

  1. As PT Barnum said, There's a sucker born every minute...
  2. I attended that academy down in Daytona Beach, and I had to pay close to 10,000 dollars (lessons, flights, dorm rent, and other expenses). Speaking of the dorms, they cost at least 700 dolllars. They are far from the academy. Also, they have cockroaches, ant, and possibly mice (heard a few squeeks over the ceiling one night). House parents treat you TERRIBLY. Silverware and dishes are incomplete, and the bathrooms are molded. The temperature is hot and miserable if you go at any time, and when you attend SABRE class, you actually need to bring a jacket because it is so cold. I highly suggest that you drive down there. You will need a vehicle because Daytona Beach is spread out on both sides of the Halifax river (which is super wide). Next to that, Daytona Beach International is actually located in Port Orange. Not only that, but I suggest that you find an apartment on mainland. You can save a lot of money on housing by paying only 500 on an apartment, which is quite closer to the airport. Or You can find a better airline school. I highly suggest Trans States Airlines. That is what a stewardess from Continental suggested to me when I first signed up. Or if you do not have a valid drivers license, try Republic Airlines
