Flight Attendant Information

What are the best Flight schools in the US?

Where and what are the best schools to go from zero to commercial? I know there are schools everywhere. But I want to know the better ones.

  1. UND & Embry-Riddle are both in the tops. Flight training is extremely expensive (comparable to buying a house) so maybe you should see if you can go from zero to instrument (or even private) at a smaller local FBO before paying out the nose at a university.
  2. Honestly, I would avoid the big flight school because you'll come out of them with just a degree in aviation. The reality of today is that most airline pilots will spend almost as much of their career laid off as they will working. Its important to ensure your 4 year degree is in a non-aviation related field so you can support yourself. Today, more than 50% of active airline pilots have side jobs while they are flying (usually selling insurance or home loans). Being an airline pilot is no longer a career and is mostly part time job today.
  3. The VERY BEST flight school in the United States is the U.S. Air Force. They give you training, experience and more flight hours than you can ever get from a commercial flight school.
  4. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is practically the best in the U.S. You have a good chance of being accepted into an airline out of that school, but it depends on what part of aviation you want to partake in like military, commercial pilot, corporate pilot. Embry-Riddle is the best for any of these.
  5. For a flight school only (no college courses), this is a place I have flown with off an on for years - good quality, good management, good training, good airplanes, good maintenance: http://www.flymfs.com/ http://www.dogpile.com/dogpile/ws/results/Web/mazzei%20flying%20service/1/417/TopNavigation/Relevance/iq=true/zoom=off/_iceUrlFlag=7?_IceUrl=true http://www.bestaviation.net/fschools/mazzei_flying_service/
  6. --Only the military flight schools. You need to search for good flight instruction, not good flight schools. You aren't going to find good civil flight schools. The quality of your training has more to do with your study and effort than anything else.
