How to become a Flight Attendant and do I need any schooling?
I am trying to become a flight attendant, I'm 18 and not sure where to start? I found this website flightattendantcareer.com and would like to know if it Legit? I know that its hard to get in, I live in Northern San Diego and want to get a job with one of the bigger airlines. Does anybody know if I have to take any schooling to become a flight attendant? Any info will help. Thanks!

- My friend is a flight attendant for American Airlines. She was doing retail before she started and she didn't have any schooling.
- Atleast 5 A-C's from highschool best to know a foreign language...can be assential have to be under a certain weight limit and be tall enough appearance if pretty important if you get the job, the airline put you into training
- You have to have a minimum level of Grade 10 before you can join. When you join that particular airline, they have to interview you and choose you out of thousands of hopefuls. Finally when you are choose, they will sent you for air -steward course that lasted for 2 years, then you are shawdow by your senoir before you become full-fleght air steward
- DO NOT GO TO ANY SCHOOL FOR THIS!!!!! Each company has their own training. They will train you on EVERYTHING you need to know. DO NOT waste money or time. DONT. Ive already answered this question.. here it is.... I became a F/A at 20. You do not need a college degree and you need to be legal to serve alcohol.. yup.. thats all you need, at least for national flights. I did not fly international, but i imagine is the same thing. Many airlines have stopped hiring for theire inflight positions except for pilots... due to the economy being so bad. Training is usually like 4 weeks or so, It is not pad, but they will give you an incentive upon completion of training. You need to be very careful in training, they check everything. They check from your shoes, to how ur hair is done..EVERYDAY, for you girls, they tell u to reapply make up... reapply reapply. they will have some Lancome or any other companies reps to give you a makeover and show you what make up is best for you and stuff.. (kinda kool). And this is how it works.:: I used to fly either 4 days 3 off... or 3days.4off. it just depends. It all goes by senority, and when you start, you are on reserve. It sucks at first but then it gets better. all airlines have their different ways of bidding for schedules. You get to bid where you would like to fly/what days and with who, one month prior. It all depends on how sr u are.. but unever know... u might get what you want. This airline had AM reserve-you were on call from like 3am-4pm or something.. i 4got. then PM reserve..on call from like 12pm-8pm. During this reserve hours you could get a trip assigned, r you could get Airport Standby (you get to sit for about 5 hours at the airport's flight attendants lounge) and wait... just in case some one calls in sick, or anything out of the ordinary happens. They keep you there to cover for other F/As. Anyways, when you get to your destination, you walk with your Crew outside and there should be a hotel van or shuttle waiting for you (usually u and other airlines crews) and they will take you to your hotel. It is all paid for by the airline...except of course if you order meals, or movies or anything like that, then you pay for that.. remember most ailines pay u a PER DIEM while your away from your base. Good Luck.
