Flight Attendant Information

Where can I find a list of FAA and JAA approved flight schools in the United States?

Florida is not my first choice. The East Coast of the US would be best, but anywhere is OK.

  1. Use google and search them or try there home web sites for information. However most airports either have or can recommend a flight school.
  2. Go to www.AOPA.org and sign up for a trial membership and get information to any aviation question. This website is especially helpful for beginning pilots.
  3. find them yourself you terrorist
  4. The FAA has a list (of sorts) available for download at: http://av-info.faa.gov/dd_sublevel.asp?Folder=\AIRAGNCY Download the airagym.txt file in the tab-delimited format (towards the bottom of the page on the right side). You're going to need a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel to handle sorting through the vast amount of data (it's 7.5MB). Assuming you do, here's what you do. Save the file to your computer, and open it with Excel or whatever you've got. Excel has an import wizard that will recognize this format with no problems. Next, select all rows but the top one (which has the header) and sort by the column named, "FAR_Part_Num". Once you've done that, you can highlight and then delete all the ones that don't have '141' in the "FAR_Part_Num" column (this will eliminate all the non-Part 141 agencies). What you'll have left is a list of all 561 Part 141 certificated flight schools. There's a lot of extraneous information about certificate numbers, etc. that you probably don't care about, but if you'll scroll over to the right, you'll find the full business name, the address, phone and fax numbers, and the company president's name and phone number (and frequently their e-mail address). You can then sort this by state, ZIP code, phone number, or whatever you feel like. If you have any problems, send me an e-mail and I'll see what I can do.
