Should I work as a flight attendant, while having a toddler and a husband? 2 years ago I went to school and received my Airline Specialist Degree from the International Air Academy, excited to become a flight attendant and travel the world, but I soon found out I was 5 weeks pregnant. Now I my son is almost 2. My husband wants to go back to school and get his Nursing degree, but can do this anywhere. I want to use my degree and fly! So heres the problem, I've applied all over to every airline I can think of. Several have already replied back and want to fly me in for a one on one interview! But heres when everything gets serious! Should I? I'm worried about my family! And my husband doesn't want my son in daycare. I've been a SAHM for almost 2 years. I love it! But what am I doing? Am I being selfish!!! HELP! Also for which ever airline I chose theres anything from 3 1/2 to 7 week training away from home. My husband hates this idea! Again help! Thanks

Becoming a Flight Atendant? I have always wanted to be a flight attendant, and recent vacations have inspired me to pursue my dreams. Now i work full time in retail, i love my job, dont get me wrong, but i am looking for something more. However before i move on i was wondering if any one out there in the travel industry could answer a few questions for me. Should i go through something like the international flight academy? or should i just start applying? Do i have to go through any kind of training before i begin, and will it be paid for? What is the average starting wages like? and any other information that you think might be helpful, please let me know!!!
infortmation on being a flight attendant? Hi, I'm 19 years old, and I live in Indiana, I'm currently attending a community college, and my career goal is to become a flight attendant, and I understand that there really isnt a need for flight attendants to have any schooling beyond high school, so this could potentially be my final semester, but I need opinions, I plan to attend The Travel Academy, anyone ever attended that school? Is it truly worth it? And with their placement program how well do they place you? I also understand first year flight attendants are gone alot with little pay, any experiences? AND kids? If I do plan to have kids while I'm still a flight attendant, would that put my career on hold? or what I was thinking was once I have kids, I was going to be a travel agent. Is that a good idea? THANKS IN ADVANCE (if you answer and you are a flight attendant please tell me what airline you work for)

How to become a flight attendant? I have always wanted to become a flight attendant. I'm 19, single and no kids. It is the perfect job for me and I'm very interested in this career. I am finding it difficult to get into this career and i could use some help. I was looking into a travel academy school that trains you and helps you get a job, but im not so sure about that because no one requires it and I do not want to spend all that money for nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions? perhaps current flight attendants? Ive tried looking at airlines websites, cant find anyone hiring. i like in the DC, MD, VA area. Should I try calling some airlines?

Anyone have any reviews on "The Travel Academy" in Minnesota? I'm interested in becoming a flight attendant, & this school looks so amazing. I'm not sure though, it almost seems too good to be true, & a couple of things kinda of threw up some red flags for me.... Is it legit? Been there? Know someone who's been there?
Transgender in Airline Industry may or not qualify? Hello I'm 18 years old, I'm planning to attend Travel Academy which is located at Minnesota & my ambition is Flight Attendant. The problem is I'm a Trans-gender, but never gotten any surgery yet and not willing to have. The question is am I qualify to have a job of Flight Attendant as a Trans-gender in airline industry?
Has anyone been in The Airline Academy in Florida? I got a card from the airline academy and i sent it to get more info and like in 2 weeks a man called and said that he was going to come and interview me we set the date and he came to my house and we spent almost 2 hours talking about the job apportunities, benefits, and how the academy is paid and all that good stuff. then at the end he said that to sign up i had to pay about 500 dollars to go with the application. after a while talkin to my parents we finnaly agreed to pay and i had to wait maybe like 2 weeks until i got an acceptance letter from the academy and i have to pay around 6,000 dolllars and finish with all 12 book lessons before i can go to the academy. we pay 243.94 a month. when i get to the 7 lesson i have to call and reserve my spot at the academy. MY uncle made my mom all worried about what if this is all a scam because his never heard of any school that you have to pay before u go attend it. so what do u guys think ? is it a scam? and i know already its not necessary to attend a flight attendant school to become one i do get refunds but it depends how much time has passed by or how many lessons ive done i might not get all the money back
Have you heard of the travel academy in Minnesota? I'm interested in becoming a flight attendant & I thought that having SOMME kind of experience would be a good thing, so I was researching & came across this "The Travel Academy" in Minnesota.... It kind of seems legit, but some things about it seem pretty wierd.. I really don't want to drop 3,500 bucks & have it be a scam... : / Any ideas? I got a broucher but it has NO pictures of the school. I haven't enrolled yet obviously, but I DID look at the thing you would fill out if you were to enroll online and it automatically asked for my SSN & Credit Card Number.. Is that normal for colleges or trade schools?
Any Flight Attendants out there? so i went to The Airline Academy in Daytona Beach b/c I definitely know I want a career with an airline in the future after college and whatnot. But after i finished the program, i found it really wasn't that helpful in the job department(although the skills and training were very informative). Just wondering, if ur a FA(esp. between the ages of 18-21) how did you land your first job with an airline and how did you go about it?
So my friend and I are planning on moving to NYC.? in about 4 years. We are in the process of getting jobs. Now until we move we are going to work and maybe community college. He is in fireman academy right now. And I am planning on becoming a flight a attendant. And there is possibly a third person going with us. So my question is, is it possible for us to live in NYC comfortably? I wanted to shoot for Manhattan, but I'm not sure anymore. Comments?
Seventeen and I want to become a pilot for the Air Force or commericially. Advice? I'd prefer to be a pilot for the US Air Force, but its an officer job. Im enlisting this summer, and I doubt I could work on a piloting degree while enlisting because [to my knowledge] it would require actual flight time. Plus, most pilots are graduates of the USAF Academy. It's farrr too late for me to apply unless I plan on going after my 4 years of enlisted service. I know almost for sure that i could get a job working around planes though. Would that help with anything at all? I'm not sure if I really want to serve 4 enlisted years, go to school, then rejoin the USAF as an officer and hope that I get chosen. By the time I did that i'd be about 27 and competing with people around 23. But if my enlisted job had to do with planes, wouldnt I have more experience and a better chance? Plus an USAF brat childhood? I definitely wouldnt mind piloting for commericial airlines. I know however that this costs THOUSANDS of dollars to do. Thousands of dollars that i dont have. Im not sure if there are colleges that teach you to fly. I always thought it was more private schools that did that. But if there are do you think id be able to use my GI Bill and such? Does anyone have any experience in either of these scenarios? The scenarios being: 1] Piloted for the US Air Force, or any of military branch [preferably from the US but others are encouraged to reply!!] 2] Commercial pilot If you fall into category 1, what did you do to get selected to even become a pilot? What things would you recommend I do? If you fall into category 2, how long did it take you to actual begin flying for commercial airlines? Commercial meaning like American Airlines or United or other major human transportation corps. About how much did it cost you? For both categories, do you have any advice I should follow? Maybe some warnings? What was the screening process like? Do you know anything now that you wish you had known beforehand? Any advice from anyone is welcomed. I really think I want to be a pilot. If that fails then im going for a flight attendant. Please help. Im aware that simply being in the USAF doesnt mean i'll be a pilot. I've been a brat for 18 years [almost]...I know how it works. Barely 15% of Airmen have even touched a plane. Also, im being forced to enlist due to lack of personal funds and the fact that my mom wants me out of the house. Im definitely going to study while enlisted, and hopefully get a Bach. I should go for a physics or aeronautical degree??

Should I enlist or do college AFROTC? I'm thinking about doing it, but I have a bit of a conflict. Up until September or so of last year [2008] I had plans to go to college. Then my mom told me she was forcing me to enlist in the USAF, which was possible for her to do because of our overseas status [active duty parents] and my lack of personal funds. At first I was upset, but then I got okay with it because I know the pros and cons of each road and enlisting is actually better for me right now. However, my career of choice has shifted since then and while the Air Force would be beneficial, it would only help if I were an officer. I want to be a pilot [1st choice] or flight attendant [2nd choice]. Though I dont have the best of grades I took all advances classes in high school. And although I dont have much paid-work time, I have tons of volunteer hours and im going on eighteen years as a USAF brat. Many people say that most USAF pilots graduate from The Academy, and for those who didn't the say that having flight time in general helps. Is it possible to do a year of college AFROTC and transfer to the Academy [if I were accepted]? And if not, upon graduating from college with a sort of aviation-geared degree...would I be okay? Please dont link me to any sites as I have read most of them. I basically want a real-person break down of the deal. What percentage of AFROTC people actually get a scholarship? Is it possible to begin college late [spring instead of fall] and still do ROTC on a normal schedule? Does anyone know the deadlines to apply for AFROTC for 2009 high school graduates? Any information/advice about AFROTC and the scholarships and such is welcomed. And as a side question: Does anyone know if colleges with piloting majors give you a chance to do flight time? Or do they just teach you what you need to know[aka the book stuff]?

Life in the Travel Industry...help? Im 23 and love the travel industry, I love being away from home and enjoy the perks the travel industry gives you but, i do have a slight concern and questions. As we all know no matter what state you're in the economy stinks. If I work in the travel industry could I still be able to support myself? Or would I be "living on the rough side" Im not sure exactly what i would like to do in this idustry..lol but what i do know is i enjoy traveling. (i know very veg). I have looked into travel academy schools and seen a lot of different jobs but, still unsure which i would like. I wouldnt want to be a flight attendant or a ticket agent at a airline compnay. What other options are there could someone give me so ideas or sites i can go to to check out. I have a impressive resume for a 23 yr old kid. (unfortunately no travel industry positions though). I've always dreamed working down south such as florida. Ive been there quite a few times and love it more when im down there. Would someone be able to send me your email so I can perhaps talk/chat about this industry Im serious about this. Thanks, Nick 23 Michigan
For female cops/detectives only please? I'm a 14 year old girl and I'm not sure of what I want to take up in college. I want to be a cop, but my mom strongly disagrees because of the everyday risk and stuff. But for this time, I don't really mind. She wants me to be a flight attendant on some big plane and I'm not sure I like it better than being a cop. Anyways, I want to know how it feels like to work in that kind of environment. Especially when you're around more guys than girls. Like, how are you treated? Do you get hit on a lot or something? Lol. And uhm, do you get treated differently if you're, let's say, pretty? As in, beautiful pretty? Lol. May I also ask the kind of things you face everyday. I was thinking if I really pursue this, I don't mind working in homicide. This is gruesome, but I'm not the run and vomit type of person. What do you guys do in the academy? Before you became cops? Did you have to do push ups and stuff? ( I really can't do even a single push up. ) And how do you get promoted to the detective? Please be honest this: is the pay worth what you have to face everyday? It probably is, because you must love your job and all. I hope you got what I meant. Lol. Also, how do you deal with male cops and male suspects harrassing you and stuff? How do you deal with it? I have plenty of questions, I know. I just really want to hear it straight from a female cop with no sexist remarks and all. I admire ALL women who go into this job. It's dangerous, but I've seen you guys prove to be just as good as the male cops. You really inspire me to fight crime and put baddies in prison and not let my gender stop me from doing that! THANK YOU!
I need help finding a career that my parents would approve of!? Well I'm 15 and I want to start getting serious and find a profession for myself. At first I wanted to be a nurse until an accident happened to my mom and I realized the medical field isn't what I want to work in. Then, I decided I want to be a flight attendant or stewart and my parents said that I couldn't be cause of my weight. And now, Our district has offered us a Culinary Arts and Hospitality Academy so I'll start going there next year but now my mom says I can't be a Chef because she thinks that if you are a chef, you are going to be overweight or even obese. Being a chef doesn't require you to eat. Now my parents have ruined everything for me and now I don't even know what I want to be. I really need help. Any suggestions of any good professions?
